Fraudulent Sheriff’s Office Scam:

Scam victims may have received communication indicating they have an active arrest warrant or some other police matter that needs to be urgently addressed. Communication may have come in the form of a physical document which appears to be an arrest warrant, a phone call, voicemail or text message from a local law enforcement agency from a number which the caller ID appears to match a local law enforcement agency. Victims may have been instructed to send money to this law enforcement agency to clear up this issue using various digital transfer methods (listed in the dropdown in the form above) in order to avoid further legal consequences. In most cases the recipient of the funds transfer appeared to match the local law enforcement agency.
